Enable forum for iPhone with...

...This.

http://taptaptalk.com/network.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

haven't used it. The app is a few bucks on itunes but I would buy it. I think I may actually - it would make forum surfing much easier.

I cannot understand the App Happy iPhone. I have a Windows based phone and an Android phone. Neither requires an Application that I must purchase to visit and participate in this or other forums.

The iPhone doesn't require it.

The browser option is just difficult to read or compose on. An app re-formats it to be easy to read and write on the boards.

Yep, I regularly read, post and surf the forum from the browser on my iPhone and iPad without issue. I have heard that it is more difficult to do if you have big fingers. ;-)

I still think time would be better sent installing one of the plug-ins that allow for a separate mobile formated portal. This would provide properly formated forum viewing to all smartphone platforms.

Yes, it works, but it's the difference between looking at it like this:

or, like this:

Yes, you can pinch to zoom and scroll around in the first example, but the application makes it much faster and more convenient by formatting it for the smaller screen.

I want to do this, but the gist of the thread so far implies to me that it may generate problems for the website. If this is correct, I don't want to do that.

I think tapatalk should fix their software so it works without forum administrators having to change anything.

I don't think that's very feasible. There are too many variations in forum themes to be able to parse the information correctly on every forum. There are already a couple of apps in the iTunes store that attempt to do that and mostly fail at it.

From what I understand Tapatalk takes the threads and posts and turns it into an XML format that is then read by the Tapatalk application to display on the phone in a mobile friendly format. The module is needed to be able to get the raw data without all the extra html formatting you see in the browser.

The first is a screenshot of the the way this forum looks in Safari on the iPhone. The second is a screenshot of the TapaTalk app viewing The High Road forum.

I think the Admin has to enable the Tapatalk feature on the forum, and there are still bugs from what I have heard. Maybe once it is stable Charles will be able to pur it on the forum.
