Rule Change: Signature line photos can be larger

#1

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

We have a number of members using photos in their signature line that just don't look right with our current 128X128 size limit. So the rule on signature line photos has been changed. The new size limit is 128X256, but if you want to keep the same size ratio as the original, it is acceptable to set the height at 128 pixels with an appropriate ratio for the width. The width however cannot exceed 384 pixels.

The primary reason for having a size limit is to make life a little easier for people with dial-up connections. However, large photos and tall signature lines are also distracting, as we learned from PM's before we had limits. (The avatar feature may be enabled, based upon member feedback. This is covered in another post.)

This new size limits is effective immediately, so feel free to change your signature photo, if you wish. We have some signature photos that exceed even this new limit, so please reduce them.

Thanks,
Chas.

Is the height limit still 128 pixels? Recently I started seeing some signature pictures that are bigger than 200 pixels high.

They should be no taller than 128 pixels per the guidelines.
