Chit-Chat section needed?

Seems we have grown to the point that the inevitable has happened. Religion, Politics, and other things that are a part of our daily lives... have begun to creep into threads posted here.
I do not consider that a "bad" thing, but it may be pointing to a need to have a separate section devoted to topics other than Concealed Carry.
Most large sites have a Chit-Chat section, and they seem to enjoy a large attendance. Many topics of interest are discussed, and I feel for the most part, they are beneficial to a forum.
A moderator would be able to "move" any post from another section to "Chit-Chat" instead of locking, or closing it.
Naturally, one would hope that all discussions would remain civil in nature, and that every forum member would exercise respect and common courtesy to his fellow members. These things tend to be somewhat self policing.
What say others?

Another forum I frequent has a section called "Endless Debate and Whining", just for such matters. I think it's a great name, and I think we need room for OT stuff here.

I see a bad moon rising, I see trouble on the way.
These things can get quite ugly.

I'm going to go against the grain here and vote against an OT forum. There are plenty of other places for that.
TexasCHLforum is just fine without OT discussions imho.

I would like to cast my ONE vote on this topic. I also think it is a BAD ideal. I was involved in the little debate and did not enjoy it, but there are some things I feel very strongly to defend. But, I would rather just stick to the CHL.

I'm with HighVelocity and carlson1 on this subject. I think it is a bad idea.
Quite frankly I think that this area has almost completely ruined another forum that I participate in.
I like that we don't have this outlet on this forum. It keeps it informative and easy to keep up with the forum.

Negative on the chat.
I am probably guilty of threadjacking rather often. I welcome a swift kick to move me back on topic. Some stuff does not belong here, but generally even with the strong personalities we do seem o get along great here.
If it aint broke don't fix it.

In my opinion there are already many other places for this to happen. Please go to those boards for those things.
This board has become what it is because of its unique nature. I realize I don't have a vote, if I did I would vote to keep it the way it is.

Believe it or not folks, we just had a "Chat".
Like others, I have been to forums where "Chat" was not a place you wanted to hang out, and so I didn't. On other sites, it has been quite enjoyable.
Well, no harm in asking.
Wishing all a Happy New Year!

I think I used to participate regularly on the same forum, I rarely post over there any more. I got tired of

I have made a New Years' resolution...
Steve will do his best "not" to go off-topic (unless he is goaded into it) and do his best to remain as light-headed...uhhh, light-hearted as is his true nature...
As far as the chat room goes...I used to think that was a good idea...But that makes me feel like I would not be as effective (or careful) in what I was trying to communicate, as I feel I am compelled to do in a regular manner in the forum...
So I would probably fall on the side of a "chat room is not necessary"...
