TexasCHLforum moving to new server
I'm moving TexasCHLforum.com to a new server on Friday, Oct. 30th at 10:00 pm. The website will be down for approximately 1 hour for the move and updating the software.
If you have a bookmark set to http://www.TexasCHLforum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; then you don't need to change anything. However, since the forum is currently in a subdirectory on TexasShooting.com, some people have bookmarks for TexasShooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum and those will not work after the website is moved.
Chas.

Re: TexasCHLforum moving to new server
Charles you might consider putting a page with links to http://texaschlForum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; on "TexasShooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum" just so that people will be able to find their way.

That's what a 301 redirect is for.Liberty wrote:Charles you might consider putting a page with links to http://texaschlForum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; on "TexasShooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum" just so that people will be able to find their way.

I'm a meta refresh man, but the 301 is really the right answer.

Re: TexasCHLforum moving to new server
Charles:
I encountered a problem in trying to use the new link at http://www.texaschlforum.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I wasn't logged in when I went to that link.
I logged in, and got the acknowledgement that I had logged in with my user name.
However, when that form automatically took me back to the index page, I was no longer logged in.
Nothing I could do would get me logged in, irrespective of the setting of the "log me in on each visit" box.
It works fine when I use http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Dunno what's up with that.

P.S. - now that I have registered under the old link, I can use the new one.

Re: TexasCHLforum moving to new server
What about all the links in posts that point to other topics? Surely there are going to be many thousands of these. Will you be doing a database scrub to rewrite them to the new URL?

Once more in English please. I was planning to run a search and replace through phpMyAdmin, but this may be easier.dicion wrote:Pipe the entire database through sed :PNcongruNt wrote:What about all the links in posts that point to other topics? No offence Charles but ...... How delicously ironic, that an attorney is asking for a translation to plain English ! Those legal papers are the world's worst!Charles L. Cotton wrote:
