Restrictions for new member's

#1

Post by zbordas »

I have been an active member on another forum that is firearm related for a while until yesterday I found this Texas specific CHL forum and I immediatelly joined as I'm a Houstonian and a TX CHL holder and NRA member. I was browsing through the topics and found many interesting and informative issues. As I was checking the sell/trade topics I found and already active member looking for something to buy and I posted a reply to his request.
Unfortunatelly my post has been removed as I'm a junior member.
My recommendations:
1. Junior members should be able to post replies to requests posted by a well established member as it will benefit both the senior and the new member. Number of posts may be limited to avoid soliciting. Starting new topics for selling/trading might be prohibited.
2. Maybe other forum's membership can be considered as a credit that the junior member will not use the forum solely for selling/trading.

Honestly, I don't want to post a bunch of stupid topics and replies just to establish my membership. Maybe new members should be treated equally and may be kicked out if they take advantage of the forum.

Not sure what others think!

Welcome to the forum. We are glad you are here. There has been an established policy for posting things for sale long before you joined and we are very fair at trying to stick with that policy. The Moderator who moved your post was just following the rules. The rules are posted right above where you posted your add:
Please note that this section is provided for TexasCHLforum.com members to post personally owned items for sale or purchase. It is not intended for use by commercial dealers or persons who do not participate in the forum, other than by using the Market section. If you are contributing to the forum on a regular basis (posts, not money), feel free to use the Market; if not, please don't.

We've tried both a minimum number of posts as a prerequisite to posting in the market section and we've tried a less arbitrary standard. In the process we've learned there is no easy to manage this section. The spirit of the Market section rule is much easier to understand than it is to document, so please make the Moderators' jobs easier by not posting items for sale until you have established yourself as a contributing member of the community.

Thanks,
Moderators

Again, we are glad you joined the forum and we look fowdard to your contributions.
