I took the Basic Pistol Instructor Course over the weekend. It was a long two-days but a very enjoyable class with lots of good infomation. I have never been "formally" taught how to use a firearm and, like many of us, just picked up and tried things over the years. Even (re)learning some of the basic stuff was great.
Now I'm looking forward to getting my kit together and teaching the course to others. The information and techniques will also be a good resource in my CHL class.
I'm also looking forward to taking additional Instructor's courses.
GOOD STUFF!

I have NRA certifications in: Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Personal Protection (inside and outside the home), and Refuse to be a Victim. There is a lot of good information available to all who take the courses or become instructors.

I've been trying to put my off-school months to good use by attending several of the NRA instructor courses, on the way to getting my CHL Instructor's certification. I did the Basic Pistol down in Gatesville last month, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Learned a lot, handled a couple of guns I had never seen in person, and got to spend some time with some really nice folks! Just finished the PP In the Home course in Stafford this week. The only bad thing about it was that it rained all day and washed out our outdoor shooting schedule, so we had to shoot at an indoor range (Top Gun in Houston) and had to improvise the concealment practice. Nice range - and I wanna go back and shoot some of their Type III firearms next time around! BRRRRRRRPT!
