Today I mailed my application to become a CHL instructor. This was a difficult decision to make bcause by nature I am quiet and retiring except for things I feel strongly about. I decided I feel strongly enough about this and how it has changed my perception of the world around me to want to do more than just spread the word.
New instructors class will be in RoundRock, June 11-15. Places still available according to Marion Stahl at DPS.

And don't we all!
You go, GrannyGlock! Make sure you are proficient on both your Glock AND your revolver. They didn't make that clear the first year we went, and we had to borrow a revolver at the last minute.
Oh, and don't take a 5 shot revolver. They will make fun of you for the rest of the class... and maybe several classes thereafter.

Hmmmmm. Not necessarily. I took new-at-the-time 340PD back when we still shot at range at headquarters. Shot all 50 rounds 1-handed, which is my preference with that gun. During last 10 rounds I had, not 1, but 3 DPS line officers standing directly behind me, watching. I thought I must be doing something wrong, but they said nothing, so I continued. Musta made me nerrvous tho cuz I pulled one, shooting a 248.
One of the troopers told me later that he had a new 340 just like it that he carried on ankle. But, he said, "I can't shoot it like THAT!". Come to find out, all three of 'em were watching to see if I aced it with the Airlite.
It is though, somewhat of a pain for the rangemaster in that second drill if only one or two shooters have a 5-holer ... 4/4/2 instead of 6/4 ...
don't take a 5 shot revolver?

I took my S&W 500. I did not hear anyone laughing.
Star sure talked about it, though. She was still talking about it the next week when my wife was shooting.
