That's a good idea, more instructors should sit in other classes.

I am not an instructor, I just got my CHL the first part of November. I would just like an opportunity to learn more.

I'm not an instructor either, but if I was I would let anyone sit in if they didn't ask questions during class time (break time is ok), and didn't shoot at range time.

Why would they not be allowed to ask questions? Obviously if they want to sit in they want to learn some more. If they have a question they should be able to ask it. Someone that has already gone through the class and has carried before would also, more than likely, have some very good questions that a new student wouldn't have.

I see both sides of this idea.

If an instructor is kind enough to admit someone, free of charge, audit his CHL class, that person shouldn't have the potential to interrupt the flow of learning with potentially inane or constant questions. A free class doesn't mean free reign to be a pain the class has to endure...

On the other hand, I understand questions are sometimes part of the learning process, but hey, if the class is free, write down your questions at the time they arrive and ask after class or find some other qualified person to ask.

Students pay for the teacher's time. Anyone wanting the teachers time (0r answer) should pay for it.

Teachers' choise of course. If i was a paying student and some freebie cut into my time I might object. But if I was a teacher and anyone wanted to listen in I would let them so long as they didn't interrupt my time with the students who paid.

If you really need all 10 hours to cover the required material, with no time for questions from someone who already knows the basic law and wants clarification...

I'll just say that the last 2 hours of my class was open free-form discussion of all kinds of firearm and CHL related law and scenarios, and my instructor covered everything required _very thoroughly_.

Now if the guy is asking a question every minute, or constantly calling you out on everything you say, that's a different story. But occasional, valid questions, IMO, would be educational to everyone.

Hotlead should you ever find yourself in the Wichita Falls area, look me up! I respect someone that is eager to expand their knowledge. In looking at your interests we have a great deal in common. Knowledge is intended to be shared.

As an Instructor (Fort Worth Area) I would let anyone sit in provided that I still had space available. I don't think I would mind questions either as long as they were on topic and beneficial to the whole class.

If the questions got out of hand where I was spending more time answering the questions than covering the material then at that point I would probably suggest writing them down so I could address them later.

It's unique to have someone who wants MORE class time! Most of my students cant wait to get out after 10+ hours of class time.

Some people need more. Maybe a lot more. The proof is in the posts saying the off limits signs or nonviolent dispute resolution or some other subject wasn't covered in class.

A possibility starting at 8:00 January 22. If ya don't mind maybe sitting on a 5-gallon bucket ;-) til renewal students leave around 2:00.
