Application Packets

I talked to a good friend this morning. Also an instructor. We are both just about out of App Packets.

Are any of you copying the Application Sheets like we are able to do the other forms??. These are not down loadable that I am able to find.
We were told at Instructor School that soon they would be discontinued.
I am in a VERY rural area & a huge segment of the people here are still not computer literate.
Until 2 yrs ago all we had available at our church was dial up. sloooooww & sometimes not even workable.

The packets/ paper apps are very important to me.

Anyone have extras you are willing to share. I will borrow, pay freight, what ever I need to do.

That is true I just ordered 50 the other day and they (DPS) emailed me back and told me that soon all student packetts will be downloadable only

That will be good then but I only have 20 now & have a 10 student class the 23-24th.

Where I am in the Deep East Texas Piny woods I need the paper. A LOT of folks here dont do computers. That is the reason these older retired folks signed up for this one w/ me.

Anyone got any to spare PM me please.

Has anyone considered scanning one into a PDF file so you can print as many packets as you need?

It seems like that would work until DPS gets their stuff together.

I could do it for you, if I had a blank application.

I thought about that , I have them saved in my laptop
DPS is discontinuing their packets from what I understand and have downloads only

I have but they are saying 2-4 weeks & my friend is 3 weeks out now & still no packets.

I am down to 20 on hand & still 3 classes this month.
I am hoping for a lot of on line appliers.

I have talked to them & that is a no-no. The forms that are down loadable on line are OK to copy but I talked to them this morning & the Application itself is a no.

When they get it up loaded on the DPS site we will be able to download them from there but until get the packets from them, apply on line, or borrow.

Response I just received when ordering:

Your request have been received and will be forwarded to our mail outs department in order to be processed. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery purpose.



Please be aware that most of the forms can be downloaded from DPS website and more will be uploaded soon. Also please keep in mind that when the student packets supplies will be depleted the department would discontinue to order them.

The department encourages our instructors to get on the website and get the documentation available online.

2 classes & I will be out.

Just curious if any of you seasoned instructors think it's doable to offer to help a computer-illiterate student fill out the online form or even bring a laptop to class and help them at breaks, at lunch, before/after class etc.

Obviously this wouldn't work with a large class or with more than a few computer-phobic students, but for a small number it could work - and be a nice way to help show them that 'puters ain't that scary .... I used to do this with my grandpa a lot and he enjoyed the time together with me showing him how to send/receive emails etc. I've never seen him so amazed as the time I sat in his office and booked him and grandma airplane tickets to go see my cousins in Georgia. "So THIS is why travel agents are going out of business." I remember him saying.

I am busy trying to learn this too. No one here offers it. The reason I have one of the classes I am doing this month is they dont have to do anything on the Comp.
I am handing them everything. There is only one computer in the bunch.

As I understand it, the applications are not numbered any more, so how could they tell the difference between a scanned & printed form and a copy? My multi-function printer will make copies and it's nothing more than "scan & print".

I, uh, kinda had the same question?? How would they know, or why would they even care, if we scanned and printed it, or downloaded and printed it?

I could not find it on the site even to try.
Mom said when I was a kid I could not lie then & I would be afraid to try. One of you Computer gurus could catch me pretty easy.
