Finger print gear
Non-LEOs
That do your own finger prints,
Where did you get your gear?
What did you get?
What did you wish you got???
I will be doing my own as soon as I can.

(hiding my LEO-ness for a second)
You could also just get the card holder:

And an ink pad, though I like the portability of the previous model.

Re: Finger print gear
I was under the impression thar a person had to be certified by the Co. Sherrif or local police to be able to take prints. If that's wrong, let me know. I wanted to include that in my classes but wasn't sure if I could do it.

Re: Finger print gear
There is no 'certification' on doing prints , but if you go to your local PD the can 'qualify' you that you can do prints and give you a letter saying that you are qualified to do prints then you send it in to DPS and they will put you on a list of peoples that can do prints.Rick343 wrote:I was under the impression thar a person had to be certified by the Co. I can speak for myself and say it took me awhile before I found someone that would do this for me.

Re: Finger print gear
In class today we were told that L1 fingerprinting is likely to be mandated soon. DPS is trying to make the process as paperless as possible.

Re: Finger print gear
I actually built my own on the recommendation of a printing veteran and business owner.
Here is what I did.....
1) Went to Home Depot and bought a $30 toolbox
2) Bought a cedar 1x4 and sanded it down to smooth and then painted it black.
3) Purchased one of these: http://store.sirchie.com/Portable-Finge ... 7C543.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
4) Mounted the board to the top of the toolbox and the cardholder to the top of the board.
Here is what I ended up with:
The reasoning behind using the larger toolbox is to achieve height. You will get much better prints if the persons arm is at a 90 degree angle. Dunno why but the thing works well.
I actually still have the original Sirchie CFP500 that I bought but never used. I need to post it for sale I guess. :)
