Business Question

#1

Post by garcia946 »

Being a part-time instructor , Do I have to register as a business with the state , pay tax and things of that sort?
Kinda curious about this , new instructor here and really want to get started. I`m holding off on ordering business cards due to this.Plus I really dont want to waste time downtown unless I have to.
Alittle feedback would be great... :bigear:

It's the same as any other business. IANAL but you can start with these links.

http://www.texasonline.com/guide/index.jsp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Go to your local county seat, get at minimum a DBA. Use your DBA to get your sales tax number.
You are now a business.
It's quick and painless. Log into the state website and register. They will send you a packet. You report quarterly whether you had any sales or not.
Hint: Once you are a business, you can register it with several of the wholesale houses and get some really nice discounts on things like ammo, targets, etc.....
