Can y'all tell me what type of printer you're using for your passport photos?

I got mine at CVS. When I got home it realized it was so crappy I could do better myself.
So I stood up to a wall and had my wife snap a series of pictures, using the CVS photo as a guide.
Then I printed them on photo paper and a Canon 3000 printer.
Worked fine. I printed a bunch of them for similar future uses.

I use an HP Photosmart (I think) 7100 series, but I can't recall the exact number. I can give it to you tonight. It does a very good job and I like the fact that various colors of ink are in separate cartridges.

If I could interject, I bought myself an HP 6310 Officejet all in 1 printer for this Christmas past. IMO it prints as good or better photos than the HP 7150 I had. Plus it has the advantages of faxing, copying and scanning. And that scanning feature was a blessing to me when I was working on my mom's estate. (scanned her death certificate and emailed it in .pdf format to State of Oklahoma.) I've used the faxing capability as well. Easy set up on a wireless network too.

But the best thing is it only cost $99.00 at Best Buy last November. It's the best computer hardware device investment I've ever made. (just my 2 cents worth).

I use an Epson PictureMate. It has it's limits, but it does EXACTLY what I need for CHL classes and that is all I use it for.

It prints great pictures on 5X7 photo paper only. It has a setting to automatically print 2 passport size pictures on one sheet. It automatically enhances portraits and removes red eye. It is about the size and shape of a lunch box, so it is very easy to cart around. It has one print pack (ink cartridge) which you buy together with the photo paper. Usually, they run out just about the same time. (Within less than 20 pages apart)

The best part is, I don't need a PC to print. I take the SD card out of the camera, insert it into the printer, tell it to print passport photos and walk away. It does it all while I continue the class.

I used a Hi Touch dye sublimation printer back when I needed to print ID photos. They are quick, supplies are relatively inexpensive, and they work well with most in camera printing solutions. The model posted below can be had on ebay for $180 or less.

That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I went ahead and bought an old Poloroid Passport camera from a pro photographer friend who was no longer set up to do those. I'll use that for a while and see how it works vs. the printer paper and ink for a printer.

SRVA and I took Crossfire's suggestion and got Epson's PictureMate PM290. It is very compact and does excellent photos. The passport photo option is easy to use. We ordered it through Amazon. It does have battery capacity however it doesn't come with the battery.

Thank you for the suggestion Crossfire.

All the literature from Epson and Amazon only mention 4X6 prints. Where do you get the 5X7 supplies and does it require any special type of Picturemate model?

My mistake. It is 4X6.

Still prints 2 passport size photos on one sheet.
