INSTRUCTOR RANGE Qualification - Fort Worth

#1

Post by Crossfire »

We will host a range qualification for Renewing CHL Instructors at our range on Saturday, November 2, from 3:30pm until 5:00pm. We will meet at the Fort Worth Cabela's, then go to the range from there.

This is open to all area CHL Instructors who need to renew this year. $10 fee includes range fee, targets, and CHL-100. Loaner guns will be available for $20, including ammo. Don't forget, you must qualify with both semi-auto and revolver.

We also have a Texas Star (swinging steel plates) that you can shoot at, if you don't mind being embarrassed in front of other instructors! Optional dinner and more good times afterward at Hard Eight Barbeque in Roanoke.

We will have a registration page open on our website soon, so that we can get your info for the CHL-100.

Registration is ready to go!

Here is the link: REGISTRATION

You can pre-pay by credit card on the registration site (even though it says PayPal), or cash at the range.

OK I'll bite. So what does this instructor range qualification get me?

I've been notified that I have to take the "One Day CHL Instructor Renewal Class". The closest one that has been offered has been over in Mesquite in November. I've passed on that informing them I'd prefer something on THIS side of the metroplex (Tarrant County).

So doesn't that "One Day CHL Instructor Renewal Class" include range qualification?

If I come do that, is that all I need to do? How about the "rest" of the class?

Confused, and hope I'm not the only one. :headscratch

The one day class put on by DPS is classroom only. You need to qualify on the range with both revolver and SA. That is being done by other instructors. You will then receive a CHL-100 with the "instructor" checkbox marked, and send that in to DPS to register that you've successfully qualified.

Crossfire is offering the range qualification only. There is no classroom portion from her.

Good luck getting DPS to come to Fort Worth. I talked to them earlier this week.

Mesquite is as close as it gets for us. Slightly better than going to Austin.

And no, there will be no range qualification there at the class. You will have to shoot with another certified instructor and send in a CHL-100 from them. You can do it with any currently certified CHL instructor, at any time. I just thought we might make a party out of it!

Of course you are welcome to come watch! But, be aware, we might make you be an RSO for us, so we don't have to switch off to get everyone done!

Will you accept a "maybe"? I will be out in the grasslands morning and midday but do now know when I will finish. If early enough, I'd like to join y'all.

Yes, but you should go ahead and register so I can make your CHL-100, in case you can make it.

Y'all have fun out there. Wish I could be there to meet some of y'all, but a party for my daughter-in-law, who just finished her Paramedic-to-RN transition course and is a newly minted RN, has to take precedence! It looks like the weather will be cooperating for you folks.
