Unsolicited Request for Instructor

#1

Post by howdy »

I just got the following email:

My name is Jon Davis. I am contacting you regarding our need for a CHL instructor in the Houston area. I am the president of the Hunting and Rifle Association at South Texas College of Law. We are a small student organization made up law students that are involved in shooting sports. Our mission as an organization is to introduce new shooters to the sport in a safe and responsible manner. We have a wide variety of members from competitive shooters and former military to relatively new shooters. We are currently looking to hold a CHL class for our members, student body and faculty. We have rooms and multimedia equipment available for use here at the school but would need to do the shooting portion at a local range. At this point we are hoping to set something up for Friday, April 5, but the date is not set in stone. Compensation and travel expenses would be included. We are expecting about 20 people to sign up to take the course but would like to secure an instructor before allowing student's to sign up. If you are interested in assisting or have any questions, please let me know. Thank you for your time, Jon DavisPresident of Hunting & Rifle AssociationSouth Texas College of Law

I can't do it and I am not sure it is even legitimate. Any Houston area Instructors that are interested can contact this guy and see whats up. I would imagine I am not the only Instructor that received it.

Jon reached out to me as well about doing the same class. Traded several emails and calls and then nothing. He said something about needing school approval.

Contacted me, too. Had a long talk with him, seemed sincere enough, but haven't heard back since even when I sent a follow up email
God and the soldier we adore,
In times of danger, not before.
The danger gone, the trouble righted,
God's forgotten, the soldier slighted.
