Re: Application Packets
The CHL80 form that is listed at the bottom of the page. Request for application is just that.
It is a request form for the application packet to be sent to you. They will send one packet & they have said you cant copy the application. I have a few but cant copy the yellow sheet Apps.

Re: Application Packets
Yes , that looks like an older form
This is the title of the form if you click on it , looks to be a form for either
Request for an Application to Carry a Concealed Handgun
Or to Be Certified as a Qualified Handgun Instructor
Edit: I don`t think the color of the application is a big thing if I remember right

Re: Application Packets
I dont know why. I honestly believe (my oppinion now)the lady I talked to said no because they were not on the site of things we can download.Crossfire wrote:I, uh, kinda had the same question?? How would they know, or why would they even care, if we scanned and printed it, or downloaded and printed it?Pawpaw1 wrote: I'm not an instructor, so my knowledge on "instructor things" borders between very little and non-existant.
As I understand it, the applications are not numbered any more, so how could they tell the difference between a scanned & printed form and a copy? My multi-function printer will make copies and it's nothing more than "scan & print".
I don't doubt that's what they told you, but that's just dumb.
(The answer is dumb, not you.)
What would be your oppinion of have a professional printer do some in yellow if it really gets tough.???

You just know me a little too well, don't you?longtooth wrote:I ask for her healing in short order & her restraint during recovery to not reinjure anything.

It seems to me that I recall a time, a few years ago, right after they stopped using numbered apps, when there was a shortage, that they told us we could print them, as long as they were on yellow paper. I didn't ever do it, because they got over it and shipped them, about the time that I needed them.
I just don't see there is anything special about the application anymore that would prevent us from printing it. Other than the obvious, that they don't WANT us using the printed apps, which is why there is suddenly a "shortage" of them.

Not sure who you were asking, but here's my take.longtooth wrote:What would be your oppinion of have a professional printer do some in yellow if it really gets tough.???
I can't imagine anyone at DPS would notice (or be able to tell) where the application came from.
Although a professional printer (Office Depot, Staples, etc.) could do it, it might be cheaper to just buy the right color paper and print them yourself. Either way, this seems like a non-issue. Sort of "don't ask, don't tell).

Re: Application Packets
The response i received this morning from my questioning about why i have not received my packets and if they have an emailable form of application for my students---- "Sorry for the delay. The department awaits the updated forms that the packets contain from the print shop. When we’ll receive the new supplies your request will be process as soon as possible. If I may suggest to ask a another instructor to loan you some application packets until you’ll receive your own."
That doesnt really clarify or gve a time frame on delivery to ANY instructor in the state... Does anyone have any packets I can use and pay the shipping on??? And when mine come in I can ship you yours back at my cost also??? PLEASE???

Re: Application Packets
This must be a new thing. When I ordered my packets last September, here is what they told me in an e-mail....
"Regarding the packets will forward your request at our mail outs department. Please allow 30 days for delivery. You also can make your own copies of the material as long as you use yellow paper for the applications."

Re: Application Packets
I have a call into them now, and am waiting on them to call me back to find out what the long term solution to this will be.
I have requested packets some weeks ago, but have yet to recieve them. I too got the canned email response that the forms are available online.
I guess I will ask the lady who calls back what the purpose of having affidavits and other information available online when the critical form, the application is not available. If they are going to require the application be filled out online, then they might as well make the affidavits with the E notary be summited online as well, leaving only the photos, and form 100 to be mailed in with the fingerprints or other supplemental information.
I thought that during the first class in July this year the woman from the CHL section said that the applications would not be required to be yellow in the future. Maybe I was wrong about that.

Just remember shot placement is much more important with what you shoot than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Re: Application Packets
I checked at office dpot today. Their yellow paper is not even close to the App Form Yellow.
I will look at other places Friday. Completely wrapped up tomorrow.

Re: Application Packets
I you do a color scan, and print in color, it will print the yellow background. But the back will be white ( unless printed in duplex), and there may be a white border (doesn't print to the edge).

Re: Application Packets
That would be some expensive printing there, SJF!
LT, the yellow shade you are looking for is "lemon". Office Depot probably carries goldenrod and canary in the store. Too dark and too light. You can probably order it from them, though.
