I had a student call today to inform me that DPS rejected the photos that were provided by FAST. She went through the process to register online and have fast do her prints and photos, attended class, mailed all necessary documents to DPS only to have the photos rejected. She called DPS and was rudely told that they are rejecting ALL photos from FAST.
WHAT?
Anyone else experience this? It appears from the new online process that FAST is able to do BOTH prints and photos.

Help is appreciated!
That's not good. Someone from DPS needs to speak with whoever is answering the phones because the DPS trainers are pushing FAST hard in the instructor classes.
I'd be very upset if I told a classroom full of students to use FAST only to have all the photos rejected. Someone from FAST probably has some explaining to do (and refunds to offer), as well as DPS.
We were told in class (6/1-4) that the FAST locations were only taking the picture to have a record of who they took the finger prints from. The picture was not for the license. I have had my students that us FAST for their finger prints to get their pictures from a CVS or Walgreens. I should have my printer next week and will be doing the photo's myself..

DPS does not and can not use the photos that FAST/L1 takes. The photos they take are ONLY for their purposes. Anyone who does not send in the photos with their application materials will for sure be rejected.

What is your source for this information?

Sorry, but my wife had her photos done at L1/FAST and they were approved, sent to DPS and used on her license.
Maybe things have changed since early June?

Here is the DPS response. The short version is that L-1 photos are not used for your CHL. I have no idea how some people have used them for their initial applications.

L1 does take photos of everyone they fingerprint and they send that photo to crime records for crime records identification purposes with the fingerprints; however, we are unable to use those photos in printing the license. (I believe it was a print quality issue). This will likely be a non-issue as soon as we are able to utilize the DL photo.
