Attire- Input from those that took Instructor's Course
Im taking the June 14-18 Instructor's Course, and after reading that (what I am assuming) is a ballroom at St. Michael's was very hot and crowded, Im wondering about the attire for the class. Obviously we must wear pants and closed toe shoes to the range, which is understandable, Im sure hot brass on the toes is not any fun.
I hate to be hot, I would much rather be cold, because I can always put on enough clothes to warm up, but I cant always take off enough to be cool.Would I be out of place wearing a pair of Khaki shorts, Polo shirt, and Boat shoes? Were there students wearing shorts last week? Id hate to show up and be asked by DPS to go put on some pants or be thought of as being unprofessional, but like I said before...I HATE to be hot.
So what was the normal attire for the majority of students?
Thanks guys!

About 50-50 shorts and long pants. The only place they insisted on us having long pants and collared shirts was the range.

I would highly recommend beach attire and a padded cushion, no cut offs or tank tops but maybe boardwalk attire

That's good to know. An instructor friend of mine told me that he got in trouble for wearing shorts a few years back. He had to call his wife to bring him a pair of long pants from their hotel. They wouldn't let him in the class wearing shorts. I'm glad they've changed that policy if it's going to be hot in the room.

Bill, a padded cushion? Are the chairs that hard or non cushioned? Also, thanks for your input.Bill wrote:I would highly recommend beach attire and a padded cushion, no cut offs or tank tops but maybe boardwalk attire

I got the impressions we were to be shoehorned into a too small room, with inadequate A/C, on steel folding chairs placed leg-to-leg. I can't imagine a more uncomfortable way to spend a week. (Well, MAYBE in jail -- naw, even THAT would be more comfortable, "Buba" not withstanding.)JAguirre wrote:Bill, a padded cushion? Are the chairs that hard or non cushioned? The chairs are straight back stack chairs... Not a lot of padding.. I wore shorts, polo and sandals on the second and third day of class... It was a lot better.. One guy sitting in front of me was asked to go and change his shirt on the second day.. He wore a T shirt that said something like "kill drug dealers" and it offended the legal lady..
Yes you will be cramped.. We had 99 and when he told me that there were going to be 150 in the next class I said "where are you going to put them" he replyed "We have a plan!"
Definately try to get on the right side of the room.. better air flow.
The good part is that they gave plenty of breaks

Any clue how many are to be in the July 19th class?

I thought he said 150 in the next 3 classes. Left side of the room was very warm.
