Greetings to all and some Questions

I am new and wanted to stop by and say hello. I do have a few questions for the Instructors on the board as I am in the procress of becoming one my self.

-How do I go about getting a Frigerprint certification
-Is there any Training collateral for the instructors test
-What method do you use for training your students (overhead, powerpoint, notes, etc)
-Typically, if you dont own your own range how does the pay structure work (Hourly, flat fee, %)

Welcome to the board BigBody07!!

I'll try to answer your questions,

To be able to take fingerprints you must go before local Law Enforcement and after showing that you can indeed take fingerprints, LE must then write a letter (on their Letter Head) to DPS stating that you have proved to them that you can take fingerprints. Then you have to mail the letter to DPS and they will add your name to the list of people who can take fingerprints.

Not sure what you mean by Training collateral!

I use PowerPoint/Personnal Notes and a Training Video.

I am building my own range, but before I would use a local range and pay a "Per Person" fee to the range to hold the proficiency exam.

Go by your local PD and see if they have someone that will give you the letter saying " you are qualified " There is NO certification. FYI , took me awhile before I found someone that would do this for me.

While you are in class they will have some meet and greets of companies that do make and sell a powerpoint presentation ( usually run about $50 but you will have to edit it to the way you like it ) Remember to keep reciepts Tax right off

You can have students pay for range or you can include it in your fee and you pay the range and get a reciept for tax right off.

So for the collateral question, are there any sample test or study guides for the intructors course? The test for license was very easy , I just dont know if its along the same lines

No sample tests or study guides , they do go over everything in the class that is on the exam.

If you passed the CHL written test, you shouldn't have any problems with the Instructor Test!
