First class coming soon.... two weeks...

#1

Post by garcia946 »

Putting on my first class in two weeks. I have 10 in this class , bunch of friends, so I know they`ll show up and so I can get feedback on my teaching.
I have some printouts , I ordered training guns , have planty of packetts, have a projector.I can do fingerprinting, wife is notary.
Going to the range first , then back to my house for the class time.Figured I`d order pizza or something to keep class going , for this class only.
I figured I`ll do only ( my choice ) 10-12 students at a time, so I can get feedback and have more time with students if needed.
Any thoughts.... :bigear:

I've done as many as 32 and as few as 1. I prefer the smaller classes 6 to 12 as no one is afraid to ask a question. When you get the large class you always have someone in class (the know it all :grumble ) that get's annoyed when questions start, so many students get scared to ask questions once that happens. The smaller classes get to know each other fairly quickly and that makes for a great day of class for everyone.

Yeah , Ive heard about the know it alls... During class in Austin the Instructors` told me there are ways to deal with them. pretty much let the class deal with them in a good way , because they slow the class down.Or you can dismiss them from the class if their too bad , but thats a last resort.
Thats why Im going to tell the class right from the start ," I may not know everything about guns but I can find out and I know what Im teaching" . Just need to know to respect all boundaries both ways.

As far as the TR 100 -- the student send in the white copy to DPS. I give them the next sheet which is yellow I believe. Then I keep the remaining two.

The only thing I've ever put on the TR-100 for location is the city and state.

Good luck on your class! With all the preparation you've been doing, I'm sure you will do a great job!

Quick question , as the instructor
I `m doing photos , fingerprints & notary
On the back of the photo , students signs name and don`t I sign also since I`m doing prints?
Sorry to ask dumb question , just mind is going 90 to nothing trying to get everything together.
Can someone walk me through a reminders course really quick , please.
Thanks for all help... I guess I`m getting alittle nervous now , pre class jitters....

You and the student signs on the back of the photos. Both photos go in an envelope with "Photos enclosed" and the students name printed on the envelope. Be sure they fill out the photo sheet with black ink and have the student sign in the middle of the bottom block, not to one side or the other.
Good luck.
