New Legislation Question

#1

Post by DoubleActionCHL »

I'm assuming, based on Texas Legislature Online and TXCHIA.org, that Texas HB 140 did not pass:

HB 140, by Gonzalez Toureilles
Categories: Concealed Carry.

Relating to the use or display under certain circumstances of an expired license to carry a concealed handgun.
For required display to law enforcement, a valid license includes an expired license if, before the expiration date of the license, the license holder submitted an application for renewal and has not received notice that the application for renewal was denied.

Does anyone have any information on this? Other than the obvious logistics issues, I would have liked to see this one go through.

I do not believe it passed. It probably would have if they were actually there to get something done rather than pat each other on the backs..........

Anyway, the requirement to show CHL has been removed, so, as long as you are in your vehicle you can claim Motorist Protection Act instead of CHL if necessary.......

STUPID STUFF! :banghead: :banghead:

I don't believe that's exactly true. As I read it, the requirement to display still stands, but the penalty was repealed. It has the same effect, I suppose.

You are correct.

The way I see it is that you can still take the ride and pay all the fines/fees/courts due to a Cop that does not know the law or cares to ignore it........

Just that DPS will not revoke or suspend your license for the "offense".

And......that's what I mean by STUPID STUFF........ :thumbs2:

Same as having an anti-Obama bumper sticker.
