Helo felow instructors, it's been a while since I've been on this forum. I need a little help. I have a student that sent in all of her documents to RSD months ago and hasn't received notice that she's missing anything. She has tried to contact them and everytime the answering queue says "all representatives are busy, please try again later" and then it hangs up. She's tried to email them and received email confirmation but hasn't heard back from RSD. What do you guys suggest? If I call 1st thing in the morning will RSD release any info on her application status to me? I doubt it, but I told her I would ask.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You have to call and call and call. Eventually she will get put into the waiting que. Redial-Press 1-Hang up- try again. Eventually it will work. Emails do not get responded to.
Even when she gets through, it's hard to get any reliable information out of the person on the other end. It's almost like they don't even have computers in front of them and are reading off a script.

If she is beyond 60 days, have her contact her state rep, or the DPS Directors office. They may not be able to hurry her along, but they can surely tell her where she is in the process.

The DPS will not release any information to you about a former student. Texas law prevents such disclosure.
DPS is buried in new applications as recently publicized. For example, they had 136,000+ applications come in during a time that last year produced only 57,000 applications. They are working three 8 hour shifts per day, seven days a week. They are stripping employees from other divisions to do this. It won't help to contact a State Rep. or Senator; DPS cannot do more than they are doing now.
When the 2017 legislative session begins, we need to call then and respectfully push for more funding for the LTC Program.
Chas.
