Citizen who shot plain-clothes officer released

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Minneapolis area: As reported in this story, a police officer in plain clothes and an unmarked car got into a verbal altercation with another driver. The officer drew on the other driver, without announcing himself as police. The other guy shot the officer three times, wounding him, but apparently not seriously. The shooter and his wife were arrested but released without charges.

The shooter had the requisite state license and had no criminal history. He was with his wife and young children at the time of the incident.

I think that officer needs a mental evaluation to see if he is fit to remain
a LEO, and if they pass him they should take his gun away and put him in
the property room the rest of his career.I know a couple of officers that
hold themselves to a high standard and always hold there cool under
fire so to speak
I'am glad to hear that the man with the CHL was released with no charges.

The Good: there were plenty of witnesses
the Bad: There were lots of potential victims around others could have easily got hurt.
The Ugly : This didn't need to have happened. Either one could have avoided this.
