Glad to see a cop is actually enforcing the passing lane law. Also glad he gave you a warning without writing you a ticket. Mutual respect and courtesy goes a long way with most cops.

The right lanes need to be repaired more often then.
I'm not going to sit in the right lane while my brain is destroyed when nobody else is around trying to pass me that's for sure.

I don't have any issue with folks using the left lane to avoid bad pavement, when there's nobody trying to pass.bigity wrote:The right lanes need to be repaired more often then.

You've changed your post, but no, I don't. That's a little more serious in my mind.mojo84 wrote:bigity wrote:The right lanes need to be repaired more often then.

I was instructed to as it was considered a "personal attack". Wasn't intended that way. Was said to make a point regarding picking and choosing which laws we decide to obey.
My apologies for being offensive.

No worries, I wouldn't have taken it personally :) I think we all have some laws we tend to ignore.

Re: Pleasant Contact with Aransas Pass Pd!
A couple of years ago my wife and I went down to Port A for a long weekend, sit on the beach, fly kites, all that. On the way down I decided to take the Port A Ferry and see if I could meet up with my cousin "just by chance" so I put the route in my GPS.
For some reason my GPS decided that 35 out of Gregory would be less confusing than 361 (which goes right to the ferry) and we wound up in Rockport. The GPS, reprogrammed, insisted on routing us down a waterfront street that did not connect to 361, so I started heading generally west and as luck would have it, we noticed an Aransas Pass cop sitting in the shadow of a water tower just west of some railroad tracks. I stopped and asked him where the road to the ferry was, and he looked at me like I had two heads and pointed over his shoulder "One Block."
I could see him running my plates as we pulled away, but he didn't give chase, so I figure I got away clean.
Didn't see my cousin on the ferry.

Yes on tailgaters. Also those that cut in front of you without proper clearance.RoyGBiv wrote:+100mojo84 wrote:Glad to see a cop is actually enforcing the passing lane law.

Re: Pleasant Contact with Aransas Pass Pd!
We ALL ignore laws at times...particularly when it is something that has no effect on anyone else at the time. Not everything is 100% black and white...there are a lot of grey areas. I will drive in the left lane sometimes because the pavement is rough and patched poorly in the right lane, but I always make sure I'm in the right lane if anyone is coming up behind me. As a humorous side note, back in the late 90's I was making a dealer trade with a dealer in Arlington, and was swapping out a new Plymouth Prowler right after they had been introduced and not many had been seen on the road. Heading north on I35 south of Burleson, running about the speed limit on cruise control, I was in the left lane coming up on a slower moving car. As I got closer I could see it was a DPS unit with two officers in it running about 50mph. Rather than running up on them and slowing down, I moved back in the right lane before I got too close and passed them. They pulled back in the right lane and closed up behind me for about a mile or so, and I knew they were eyeballing the vehicle. They hit the lights and I pulled over on the shoulder and had my license out as they both got out and approached. I knew they just wanted to take a look at the car, but asked why they had stopped me since I wasn't speeding, and one said " well, you failed to signal your lane change when you passed us." I just smiled at him and said "well, if you want to get picky, if ya'll hadn't been running 50mph, in the passing only lane, I wouldn't have needed to change lanes to get around you." The other officer laughed and said "he's got us there." I said why don't we pull in at the rest area about a mile up the road and ya'll can get a good look at it without all the traffic, and the driver said "lead the way". I parked in the shade and let them sit in it and play with all the gadgets and we talked about the design and the handling and just shot the bull for about 15 minutes, then shook hands and gave them a couple of business cards and waved at each other as I drove off. Both of us were guilty of violating the letter of the law, but no harm was done.mojo84 wrote:bigity wrote: I think we all have some laws we tend to ignore.
