Officer Tim Whitley is my son's brother in law. He's married to my daughter in law's sister. He thankfully did not get burned, although he did cut his arm up on the window glass while trying to rescue the man inside his burning home.

Way to go Tim!

Just another day at the office. :clapping:

Thank God for those that are willing to risk themselves to serve others.

It's good these stories get out there as it's too easy to just focus on the bad stories.

Exactly. For all the talk about abuse of power, militarization, no-knock warrants, SWAT-ing, dog-shooting, etc., we need to be reminded that the majority of cops are doing a very good job, and doing it selflessly.

I saw this on the news. Great job to all of them.

It is, as stated above, good to hear good things about our first responders instead of all of the negative thats been going around lately. The vast majority of our first responders are great people that have been called to perform an almost impossible job and make decisions in a pressure packed, adrenaline filled millisecond. Sometimes these decisions are questionable but if you look at the whole picture, understandable. There are only a few that unfortunately do bad things and give the rest a black eye. Those are usually the ones that make the news.

Again, great job to all of them

I too saw the story on the news. You can always tell the quality of a person by the way they handle recognition for going beyond what is required. These officers are dedicated, humble men of great character. We are blessed to have them here to protect and serve.

We can never thank them enough.

That is the kind of action that embodies the spirit of the adage, "To protect and serve". Truly commendable.

I will, but if I know Tim, he'll probably just say "awe shucks" and wander off". He's a pretty self-effacing guy.

Saw this, great story and remarkable heroics. The sad truth is while the vast majority of LEOs honorably and tirelessly do their jobs, we only here about the outliers. So either the exceptionally good or the exceptionally bad make the news and lately it has been the latter. Refreshing.
