Going UTSW for monthly check up went through Bonham, rolled through a stop sign, (one i have been stopping for years) saw the cruiser just up the road after passing the sign, had wife, daughter, and wife nephew in car, got pulled over just pass the intersection, had DL and CHL ready when officer came up, he looked at th CHL asked if I had my weapon with me, told him where it was, he handed back the CHL and took DL back to cruiser to write up the ticket. Officer was very professional, didnt look worried about the CHL or location of weapon, handed back the $300 ticket and said have a good day.... daughter was worried but I told her it was okay....

$300 for a stop sign? Wow, that's steep. Yikes.

I'd be more worried about the next insurance bill.

Pretty standard, anywhere from $275 - $325 including court costs.

Seems like a defensive driving class might be in order.

That would counter that part of it anyway.

And maybe the ticket too!

Yep. I've only gotten one ticket in TX going straight in a turn only lane (a truck was conveniently parked on the side of the road blocking the sign from view while 5 police cars sat about a 1/4 mile on the other side of the intersection pulling people over).
Spent 8 hrs in front of the computer taking the online course. Between court fees and the cost of the course I was out about $125. The ticket alone would have been $250.

going to check into the defensive driving course.... S-I-L has a pretty heavy lead foot and she has taken a few to drop the tickets....

If you can take it def driving will help keep the ticket off of your record and help keep your insurance from seeing the offense. May not be any cheaper on the cost of the fine though.

called court clerk this morning.... court cost will be $110 plus whatever cost to take the course.... whole lot less than the fine.... lesson learned.... when the sign says stop.... you STOP :biggrinjester:
