Not much fun
Recently managed to roll my minivan on my way home from the boat. I came out ok (a few spectacular bruises) thanks to the seat belt! However the van was totalled. Local Sheriff Dept was first on scene and I handed over DL and CHL without even thinking about it. He never even asked if I was wearing. After a while, DPS showed up and took over the scene. He asked if I was carrying, I said yes. Then he asked if the weapon stayed in the holster during the wreck. I said yes it did. He asked what I used and when I said Serpa he just grinned and said "Gotta love 'em". That was the last I heard about it. The only thing that annoys me, he told me at the scene that there was no citation but a week later I get one in the mail for Failure to maintain single lane....... I can't really complain though....when your vehicle is parked on top of someones chain link fence, you've definately failed to stay in your lane.....

...mailing you a citation is new to me...of course so is IPOD...did you look up the wording of the law to see if you're actually guilty??? did the same officer send it after telling you there was no citation??? I'd contest that one thoroughly...
...I have a friend who recently was in a head-on at about 25...only mark on him was where the seat belt crossed his chest...looked like someone hit him with a railroad tie...amazing the bruise he had...

Perhaps something with a lower center of gravity and a wider stance might not have rolled? This seems like a perfectly good excuse to get that Corvette you've always wanted.

Re: Not much fun
The bruises were awesome looking. A straight line across my lap was completely black with blue edges the next day. A nice green and purple stripe diagonally from the shoulder belt. Also a beauty of a black and blue on the inside of my left bicep. Considering I walked away from this, I'm now a confirmed believer in seat belts. I've always used them, but now I know why! I would have a hard time contesting the citation. The fence I landed on was 25 feet off the side of the road. That's definately outside my lane......... It was from the same DPS officer who responded. I guess they have to show something for the call out.
