Great LEO contact tonight

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Great LEO contact tonight

Post by E.Marquez »

Out tonight to get my son from mens league basketball and got lit up in Lampasas.. Not a big deal, turn signal, inside light on windows down, hands on steering wheel...LEO told me I had a license plate light out would I like to get out and look? No thanks sir, I believe you no issue.. mid 20's guy.... asked me for license,,,told him it was in my back left hand pocket.. handed him my DL, CHL and MIL ID... pretty sure he was not expecting to walk up on a lowered 2005 Mustang out at night in the area I was in and find a 44 year old CHL carrying Sergeant Major in the US Army

Very polite and professional,, ran my DL.. came back, wrote me a deserved warning thanked me for my service to the country and away I went.

I have no doubt it was a basic fishing trip stop.. I deserved to be stopped,, and he did his job by checking me out, DUI, stolen, wants and warrants ect..

Start to finish I was there 8 min.. :patriot:
Thank you officer.....I'll be calling your supervisor in the morning and letting him know.... I was impressed with your professional attitude and performance of your duties.

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

Sometime in about 1973 I was riding my motorcycle up Highway 101 from Santa Barbara to San Francisco, and got stopped - with cause (I was not *way* out of line but the stop was valid).

Having grown up near Chicago, I was ready for (expecting) a difficult time.

The CHP trooper was so absolutely calm and professional that, when I sent the ticket in with the fine (in effect pleading guilty) I included a letter commending his professionalism and lack of bullying. Since then, I've sometimes laughed to myself at the humor his supervisor and colleagues must have found in my letter. I do not regret writing it though.

I bet it happens more often than we might think, that an officer gets an "attaboy" from the person they stopped.

Giving good feedback to supervisors is an excellent idea. Not only for LEOs, but for any person doing an outstanding job in any occupation. :thumbs2:

You would be surprised. I have been thanked by a few people I arrested.....seriously. I admit it is strange, but maybe it was a wake up call for them or they were relieved to be away from their partner.
