Profanity warning for this video

Mark Flores: "I still find it unbelievable that someone can get pulled over for a crooked front license plate... and somehow ends up getting tasered six times."

Im surprised theres a "Federal lawsuit" for what seems cut and dry to me.

Mr. Flores, he didnt get tasered for having a crooked license plate, he was tasered for being a dummy.

I guess we have different definitions of "dummy".

The driver was not being a jerk. He was pretty calm, cool, and collected (compared to the officer), and asked why he was pulled over. He got a little animated at one point, but for the most part he was just asking what any citizen should be entitled to know: "What is the problem, why did you pull me over?" He did use some profanity, but very little compared to what was bleeped out on the officer's part.

The officer, on the other hand, seemed unable to distinguish between "fails to submit to every order" and "actual threat". He was screaming like a ninny.

The drive showed his hands clear. He took his hands out of his pockets so he wouldn't look like a threat. He put his hands on his head. (For the record, being slow to comply or being mouthy doesn't justify an escalation of the use of force pyramid.)

He balked at being told to get down on his knees. Given that the officer had failed to respond to his queries about the reason for the stop, and treated a crooked license plate like a felony takedown, I can't say that I blame him.

I fear that too many young police officers are trained to believe that anyone who isn't a fellow officer is an immediate threat to their lives, anywhere, any time. Their training seems to focus more on demanding and forcing immediate and total submission, rather than actual communication skills.

As a side note, I cannot understand the tactical advantage of insisting that a driver remain in his car. People in cars have a great advantage if they wish to do harm to an officer: they can hide their hands, weapons, and intentions. A driver out of the car, with his hands visible, is much less of a threat.

I can see how at first he seemed like a threat, jumping out of the car. I am sure many officers have been attacked in similar scenarios. He probably had something to hide the way the driver reacted. But, I think the officer could have cuffed him without the need for a taser - especially when there were three officers. I guess I cannot disagree with the tasering since the guy never complied, but I think there are better ways of handling it. That officer was really annoying, how many times was he going to tell the guy to turn around and out his hands on his head? He spent over three minutes saying the same thing over and over. After the first 50 or so times he should have known he wasn't going to do it. It's like telling your children that you are counting to three. Once you get to three and nothing happens the threats become useless since they think there are no consequences.

The guy was wrong for getting out of his car and approaching the officer like that. I agree it seems he had something to hide.

The officer should have just told him what he was pulled over and if that didn't de-esculate the situation try another approach.

Alot of things were done wrong IMO.

It seems to me that officers use their tasers whenever and as many times as they want because its "less than lethal' force.

Once was enough for this guy. You can see that he was taken down after the initial taser. With three officers susequent tasers seems like excessive force (if this guy was suped up on some hardcore drugs it might have called for more than one taser)

Yes i guess we do have different definitions of Dummy.

Mine would be not to mouth off to police when they pull you over.
Mine would be to do as an officer instructs you as long as its moral, doesnt endanger your life, and is within the law.
Mine would be to not raise your voice or approach an officer in a threatening manner.

Unless you want to scream like a little girl, you may want to remain calm and do as the officer asks.

This is why I always speed: I don't have to wonder why I'm being pulled over.

Ok, let me elaborate a bit more...

You follow the officer's instructions, cooperate and sign the ticket.

You will have your day in a court of law, the side of the road is no place to argue with an officer.

He got tasered because of his body language and actions and failure to comply with the officer's orders.

Good for the officer's he made their night

He's alive and well, back in the old days he would have gotten some "stick time". Alittle tazer hurts but he is walking around 10 minutes later

How many times do you have to say "Turn around and put your hands on your head" before you get it?

This guy is a fool, and now his foolishness is all over the internet.
The cop doesnt look much better
