Good First Encounter - Santa Fe PD

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Good First Encounter - Santa Fe PD

#1

Post by btaylor »

I was driving through Santa Fe (Galveston County) on Saturday morning about 6.30am. I was on Highway 6, which is straight for like a gazillion miles - and its very easy to speed if you're not paying attention.

I had the 'saw the speed limit change, then saw the squad car, then saw my speedo, then saw the flashing lights experience.'

I gave him my DL, CHL, and insurance. He told me how fast i was going (68/55), asked if my address was current and handed me my CHL, walked back to his car and came back with a warning.

Nice and courteous.

Good to hear about the courteous response of the PD.

Many years ago...had an Idaho CCW permit...my first encounter with the local PD was not pleasant. I was pulled over for speeding (50 in a 45), provided my DL, insurance info, and CCW permit. First question from the officer..."are you carrying now?" My answer, of course was..."yes, sir." Next thing I knew, I was outside of my vehicle, being patted down and my vehicle being searched...absolutely no reason.

Like I said, it was may years ago...and it was shortly after they starting letting folks getting CCW permits...so, I took it in stride, as I figured it was just a "new" thing that the local PD was just learning to deal with.

Sana Fe has a group of really good folks working patrol. They have a large area to cover and jump on any opportunity to help another agency.
