I am also in charge of the security at our building, and get 'the call' when the alarm goes off. Have had to meet officers there multiple times. The most recent, after I got my CHL.
It is worth noting, that I live 15 minutes away from my office. I have beaten the officers there _every time_ (probably half a dozen)
One time, I beat them there, and still waited another 30 minutes for them to arrive.
I did not notify them I was carrying, as they did not request my ID. I also was on property that I controlled, as the security representative of my company, so technically, I could have probably even open-carried, or exposed my handgun while walking through the building with the officers. I did not, however.
Had they requested my ID, I would have happily provided it and my CHL.

From a tactical viewpoint, that may have been smart.
From a liability standpoint...
My guess is that they figured you would realize if something was really wrong or not faster than they would.

Why risk yourself?
Why not let the officers clear the building while you remain out of harms way?
Or, did they request your help? Or, is it in your contract? Or...?
As a general observation, I have a CHL and all that entails for my protection and my family's - not for anything else.
