A Dallas County DA investigator forgot his Glock 30, charged with .45 caliber
JHP's, in the bathroom.

A jail guard found it before a criminal did.

Here we go again.

Is the Glock 30 Austria a new version of the old G30?

Teutonic engraving on it, perhaps? :headscratch

I purposely put the awkward description of the Glock in quotes to
kind of poke fun at the DMN reporter.

Perhaps this reporter went to the trouble of going to the Glock website,
looked up a picture of the G30, saw that it said Austria on the slide,
and assumed that the full name of the pistol was a "Glock 30 Austria."

It could happen!! LOL

That could have been very, very interesting had an inmate found it.

Nah, it was loaded full of bullets, so there wouldn't have been any room for cartridges even if said inmate had found any.

Unfortunately the thread on what to do with your gun in a restroom, where this post would have fit right in, has been locked due to some out of bounds posts. However, this incident is a reminder that, contrary to some of the posts in the earlier thread, forgetting a gun that has been put down somewhere in a rest room does in fact happen and does so with regularity.

In this particular case, a point KD5NRH made in the restroom thread that folks who have to pay for the gun don't do this as often as those who don't finds additional support as well. This may have something to do with the fact that many of those folks who don't pay for their guns are required to carry them at all times and most CHL holders do not, but it's worthwhile to consider that LEO's have been through some pretty serious screening and training. If it can happen to them, believe it when someone says it could happen to me or you if we're not consciously extra careful in these circumstances.
