Disarming the public...

My brother happended to strike up conversation with an LEO in Bay City (he was carrying an Ed Brown, which is what lured him in) about the current administrations possibillity of confiscating the people's firearms to which he responded with "well, if it comes time that we are given orders to raid houses for firearms, I won't be needing this badge anymore." I sure hope we have a lot more like minded LEO's out there!

What do you guys think? I know the question about wether or not the military would fire on their own people or not has been brought up but do yall think it's safe to say that there many more LEO's out there who think the same as this one?

I guarantee that in both the Military and the Law Enforcement communities you will find those who would follow orders, and those who would not in regards to this issue.
One way for a government to stack the odds in their favor is to use units from other states to enforce these type of actions. When you don't have a sense of community or identity, it is much easier to carry-out harsh orders without your conscience getting in the way.
When the Soviets did their final push into Germany, the majority of their shock/spearhead units consisted of their Asian troops that spoke neither German or Russian. It is hard to surrender to someone that doesn't speak your language, and even harder to engender any sense of pity with someone that you cannot relate to.

We have nothing to worry about then, since we won't have to feel bad for whoever they send to surrender to us.

They can bring in police from DC, NYC, Chicago or other places where they're conditioned to disarm The People.

Yeah, but do you really think that the people from there are prepared for the TEXAS size fight they would be up against?

Sadly, I don't think most Texans are up to it anymore.
You can scarcely get anyone to put a pro-gun bumper sticker on their vehicles these days, you really think those folks would fight?

Wasn't born here, but got here as soon as I could. I would fight for Texas. The only pity of it is that I'm not physically as capable as I used to be; but I would do as much as I could. Just as it is often the case that immigrants from foreign lands are greater able to appreciate and exercise America's unique freedoms than are native born citizens, Californians who move to Texas (like I did) are perhaps greater able to appreciate and exercise their uniquely Texan heritage and rights.
I was watching a TV show either on Discovery or NatGeo a while back about power generation in the US. What I found interesting was that they showed a picture taken from space which depicted North America's power generation and distribution grid. Virtually the entire country shares power back and forth with Canada. The lone exception was Texas - which is apparently energy self-supporting, and neither imports nor exports electricity between itself and the rest of the nation. With the exception of part of the panhandle, you can see in the image below that Texas is energy independent. (The website I got this image from thinks this is wrong and advocates forcing Texas to come into the national grid.)
Here is a newspaper article about the subject.
My point in this is that our state is uniquely set up for independence. I'm not advocating
for secession or anything like that, but I'm just point out that either through careful long-range planning or just happy circumstance, we are in a better position than a large part of the country. We produce our own energy. We are capable of growing all our own food. We have 367 miles of coastline with good harbors. The only thing we lack are geographical features like high mountains to act as a defensible border.
Just spitballing here. . . .

I'd rather see us take in all the Gulf Coast states and Alaska as well.
Basically give us control over everything you'd need.
Oil production
Refineries
Ports of entry and export
Control over the Mississippi river
Space program
Food resources
The list would be extensive.
Alaska could remain "Alaska" or become "North Texas". Tejas del Norte

Excellent idea!! I think the Republic of Texas would be the answer to the problems we are facing.
Surly Sara Palin would want to be a part of Texas...I mean Tejas del Norte, reckon? .
