Austin -- On February 11, a sheriff deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. He found that the vehicle was stolen and arrested the driver.
The "suspect" got his handcuffed hands in front of himself, overpowered the deputy, and took off with the deputy's ".357 magnum service handgun" and pickup truck. The story doesn't say whether the suspect got the handcuff key.
A fugitive task force found the suspect the next day, and shot him when he resisted arrest.

One wonders exactly how the suspect overpowered the officer. One also wonders if the handgun was a .357 Magnum revolver, or perhaps a .357 SIG pistol.

Deputy overpowered by handcuffed prisoner
Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.
Re: Deputy overpowered by handcuffed prisoner
I'm sure the whole story would make a good officer training scenario.
