I guess concealed does mean concealed...

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

I guess concealed does mean concealed...

I wasn't sure where to post this, just felt like sharing. :cheers2:

So the other day I went to a Dairy Queen here in San Marcos for some ice cream with my family in celebration of my sister's 24th birthday. Little did I know that I wasn't the only one headed to Dairy Queen that night...

When I arrived, the first thing I noticed was about 20 State Trooper cars taking up almost the entire parking lot. Hehe, well, I momentarily thought about leaving my gun in the car, but then again, that wouldn't be any fun. So I parked, went in, had some ice cream, and left. So not really an encounter, but I was half-expecting one of those sharp eyed LEOs to ask if I "had a license for that thing". :thumbs2:

Troopers like Beltbusters and Blizzards too.

I can understand your hesitation. I think troopers are the least of your worry when it comes to LEO.

Your situation is funny stuff when it happens to someone else.

A few years ago, I carried (IWB, shorts and untucked polo) at a fund raising event where LEOs and their families made up more than half the crowd. Nobody said a word. I have been much less worried about being "made" ever since.

This sort of leads me to a question, probably of LEOs in places where CHL is allowed....

If you do "make" someone by visual print or whatever, do you do ANYTHING? I mean, given a walk-a-day type circumstance, where the individual isn't "acting suspicious" or anything. Like if you were one of those troopers and you notices the outline of this guy's handguns, or you're out at the mall (assuming no 30.06) and you see the outline or something.

I don't know that most LEO's would do anything without some behavior or other suspicion, but I don't know, so I ask.

It might have been some training thing. A third of them were wearing the uniform I see when I get pulled over, the other 2/3rds had the same pants but maroon t-shirts on. New guys? :confused5

Good question. What if two LEO's are in the mall and each one notices the other one's gun outline?
Better. Not Bitter.

I recall one member here a while back who told of going into a burger joint while carrying. While standing in line to order, he didn't realize that he had a hole in the back of his shirt, though which one could see a little bit of his pistol butt. In walks a trooper and stands behind him. Our intrepid member feels a tap on his shoulder, turns a little bit, and the trooper leans forward and in a low voice says, "you've got something showing." Then they sit down together and eat while they talk guns with one another.

I hope I have recalled that story correctly.

Seems to be an accurate recollection. Here's a link to the original thread and the story:

All of a sudden, he put his hand on my shoulder and said, "You have a little problem there, buddy. You have a little hole in your shirt." It took a minute for anything to register, and I stared at him blankly for a few seconds. Then something dawned on me, and my eyes got GIANORMOUS! I'm not sure how it happened, but I must have torn a hole in my shirt, and he could see my gun. Just a little bit of the butt of my Kimber was poking out of the hole. He said, "I assume you have a CHL? I can see the clips for your holster." I told him yes, I had a CHL, and asked if he wanted to see it. He told me no, not at the moment, and asked if I wanted to sit with him. Then I ordered my meal and told the lady at the counter I'd get the troopers also. We both got our meals and sat down. I sat with my right side against the wall to hide my hole. He asked to see my CHL at the table and told me that he hadn't wanted to make a scene, and it obviously looked like a accident. So we talked about guns and holsters and all kinds of stuff for about half an hour. He asked about the holster I was wearing and how it works with a tucked in shirt. I told him, "Works great without any holes in my shirt!" Turns out, he knew my brother from when he was with OPD. We talked about him for awhile and I told him he'd moved to a new department near Austin and was enjoying the PD there. After lunch, we walked outside. He stayed on my right and hid my little problem. He headed back off to work and I ran home and changed shirts! All is well now and lunch was interesting to say the least!
