Are you the LEO?

I know there are a few folks on here who have a desire to enter the LE field - some in the Austin area. Well, I just heard a report on the news that Elgin is in need of some folks and is even offering a $3500 signing bonus as an incentive. I know very little about the Elgin PD, so don't take this as an endorsement. Just information. Good luck!

If you want to come to Dallas we're hiring over a thousand additional officers during the next 4 years and we pay a $10,000 signing bonus.

I'd actually consider going for that if it wasnt for the college requirement.
I've had the hankering to be an officer for a long time, and things in my life right now are at a perfect place for me to try and go for it.

IIRC....Ft Worth PD does NOT require the college. I have several friends on FTW PD and they seem to be happy with it.

I live too far away for them, and they do have a college requirement.

Surely they mean 40 in 1 minute and not 4.....
Not sure where these standards come from, but may places have one standard to be hired, then a higher standard to remain. The theory is they will get you in better shape during the academy.

I retired out of Bastrop County SO and Elgin is not a bad place to work as they are close to Austin and seem to not have ht esame problems as Bastrop city does. I know th cheif and if you like a good word PM if you are thinking of becoming a PD officer.
