Texas Ranger interview...

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Texas Ranger interview...

Heard a funny story from my Dad this morning...

There was a journalist who had an interview with a Texas Ranger (recently I suppose)...And the conversation led to a discussion about his (Ranger's) sidearm...

"I see you carry a 45 as your sidearm, why is that???"

Ranger replied...

"Well, they don't make a 46..."

:lol:

(Probably an old funny, but one I guess I have not heard of before...)

I will tell you from being around them a couple of times a month that they are issued Colt 45's. I am sure they have a choice on their sidearm, but the particular one that I see most often carries the Colt.

For you 1911 fans......just being in the room with one would make you jeleous!

They are numbered TR001-TRxxx according to seniority. It is a special Texas Ranger run just for them. I do believe their AR's are done exactly the same way.

I have a friend who is a Ranger now and had a good friend who was a Ranger who passed away a while back. I have that story before and also the one. . .
Where they asked the Ranger if carrying that .45 with hammer back was dangerous and he replies "I would carry if it weren't." :grin:

I had heard a similar one before but the question about the Ranger's .45 cocked and locked was "Isn't that dangerous"? Ranger's answer was "I hope so".:shock:

I guess there are many of these "folklore" stories, all with different/similar answers from the Ranger.......

Still, the Texas Rangers are one of the greatest supporters of the 1911 pistol and the heritage is a very long one.

You just made me realize that I have never been there! :shock:

I have been by there many times, but always in a hurry and no time to stop.

I may make it a point to drive down in the "Hot Rod" one day and look it over.

I hope it is not posted against CHL'ers in any way! :lol:

That reminds me of a movie I saw just recently - Man Of The House. Tommy Lee Jones certainly knows how to handle that 1911 properly. It was good to see him carrying a 1911 in a movie as opposed to the Glock commercial (U.S. Marshals) that he was in previously. Not that the Glocks aren't good guns... they just lack the elegance that he commands as an actor

Then again there were the stupid inaccuracies that MOTH portayed... like the Capitol serving as the front of every courthouse scene in the movie. I guess it was prettier that the real State and Federal courthouses in the city.

You fellows never heard of a 46?

There's the 460 Rowland still around. It's mounted in a Colt or clone 1911 model type .45 acp pistol.

A 460 Rowland is still just a .45, albeit with a longer case. ;-)

There is something called a .45 super.

It has 30% more velocity which equates to about 60% more energy.
