Victoria - a good place to be pulled over as CHL.

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Victoria - a good place to be pulled over as CHL.

I've had the opportunity to be pulled over by Victoria PD on more than one occasion (what can I say, I drive a bit fast sometimes). Victoria PD is very versed in the art of weapons (be warned) and I believe they actually enjoy a CHL holder. This because I have yet to get a ticket (all warnings) and I don't get the usual where's you gun, keep your hands on the wheele, don't get out of your car that I get from the troopers. the troopers/highway patroll treat me like a threat while the PD give my CHL a simple once over, hand it back and say "Mr. so and so, slow it down a bit, this is a 35, not a 50 zone. Have a nice day".

Having a CHL means that you are the type of person that obeys laws.
The fact that you have a CHL proves that you obey MOST laws.

Speeding is against the law! True, it does not affect the status of your CHL (unless you are going fast enough over to get arrested for it), but none the less, it is against the law (also not a safe practice).

I suggest that you start to make it a point to OBEY ALL LAWS.

If speed limits were anything other than arbitrary, they might be connected to safety. But they're not. On the vast majority of rural Texas interstates, it's perfectly safe to drive 80-90-100, assuming the vehicle and driver and conditions are adequate. On the other hand, on many urban secondary roads, the posted limited is way too fast for most traffic conditions.

I suggest that you start to make it a point to OBEY ALL LAWS.
Take two tomes of Thoreau and calm me in the morning.

It is the duty of patriots to disobey bad laws.

The tough question is which are bad laws.

AEA does make a good point. Do we really need to get cranky over it?

It's only tough, because the list is so huge and it's hard to know where to start.

The tough part would be winnowing out the few good laws, instead of chucking the whole thing out and starting over with the Golden Rule -- and then stopping!

Thanks for your support.
As usual on this Forum, there are those that fail to realize what the point is and prefer to criticize the delivery.

I don't think he should come to a CHL Site and with his 2nd post brag about getting a free pass by LEO's because of his CHL.

Sometimes we tend to take ourselves too seriously don't we ;-) . The guy was relaying a personal experience, I did not notice any bragging and I have seen several of these type of posts on the board.

Because it is his 3rd post is all the more reason to NOT give someone a hard time.

New member or old. Speeding is breaking the law. It is not up to you or I to on the spot, determine which are the bad laws. You see one kid get ran over by a speeding motorist and your thoughts might change.

I understand your point and agree about your stance about speeding. Still the folks I admire the most had at some point decided some things are more important the law.

Moses
Jesus Christ
The European Underground of WWII
John Adams and Paul Revere.
Martin Luther King.

Lots more
I am pretty grateful for those in our past who believed some things were more important than the existing law as we get to enjoy the fruits of their efforts.

New guy in the circle of conversation & this was a place he could start.
Most of the folks that have been stopped have got off w/o a ticket just like his experience.
 Me & a very few others were not so fortunate.

Agree w/ yobdab completely:

 Lets give the new guys a chance to find a chair in the circle & their time to contribute.

Everyone's butchered English aside, I think the point was that Victoria, Tx has a nice PD. It seems this gentleman has had plenty of experience with them, and thusly has a bit of something to go on.

and for fear of going, once again, off topic...
Speed Limits? really?
Speed doesn't cause an accident, the stupid moron behind the wheel does.
saying speed causes accidents is like saying, well, guns kill people.
