July 4th DUI checkpoint viral video.

Goodbye constitutional rights. I hope this kid files a complaint and sues the department for a new paint job thanks to the K-9. Funny how the made they dog *hit* on the vehicle to give them consent to search and didn't find anything.

Wonder where this happened.
That kid didn't do anything that I would not have done.

Re: July 4th DUI checkpoint viral video.
I said this in the other thread with this video in it.
I would love to see the un edited version of this video. You can see that it jumps a few times. In specific where the two officers are talking to each other and the one says the kid is innocent and knows his rights. Seems like there was something said before that.

specifically the 5:09 mark. And again when the other officer says it "Wasn't a very good alert"

"Are you an attorney or something?"
My standard answer "As much as you are."
Sad video. Troubling times in the kingdom indeed.

LEO's like to go fishing, I guess that is what this kids was doing, fishing to get under the LEO's nerve and get it on tape. I guess it is a win-win he got to bother them and they got to bother him.

My guess is that it's going to bother someone's tax dollars right into that kids hands...suthdj wrote: I guess it is a win-win he got to bother them and they got to bother him.
It's always interesting for me to see the balance on this forum. We've got some pretty die hard constitutionalists focused on 2nd amendment rights. So what happened to that AR-15 guy in Temple is a major crime, but this kid getting the treatment is somehow a differently bar... I guess the kid didn't get arrested, so that's good for him.
It seems like we're trying hard to have it both ways. We're definitely giving up some rights and privacy's that were guaranteed in the Constitution for the sake of a safer country or perhaps in this case, a safer street.
We can either have privacy or we accept the risk that comes with law enforcement being unable to search your car, your bag, or stop you at will... The courts will draw the lines for us through caselaw eventually and technology will help make things a little less one sided, but I wish it was a choice rather than a process.
