Well, I had my first chance to show my CHL to a LEO today. I took a different route in to work because I slept in a little bit (no one was going to be in, I took advantage). Two motorcycle cops sat at the bottom of a hill on the road outside of my subdivision. Perfect spot to catch people who weren't smart enough to ride their brakes.

Handed CHL, DL, and PoI to the Officer. I commented on his PDA that he was using to scan my license. He asked if I was carrying...I told him it was in the glove box (can't carry at work). He was very formal and gave me a ticket for 44 in a 30. I was pulled over by an officer standing in the road. There was no way to avoid it. haha

I got pulled over and got my ticket in under 3 minutes. That's service!

That's one way to look at it.

I regularly pass through a few places (usually at the bottom of a hill) where the cops hide in the bushes only to step out and guide the offender onto the side street to receive their ticket.

I'm usually the guy riding the brakes while the other cars zoom around and get popped.

I'm so mad about it...but it's my fault, so my anger is with myself. LEO was just doing his job.

I'm curious...am I the only one who says "Thank you!" when I get a ticket? Why am I thanking him for a $200 fine?!?

Same here, I give them a thank you because even though I'm ticked off, it's at me, not them. They're doing exactly what they need to be doing, and I do actually appreciate it.

Ugh, I have so many tickets that if I get another one, I'll lose my license or something. The city governments are stretched thin financially, so the cops have to write lots of revenue generating tickets. I even got a ticket for speeding on my bicycle once. I thought bicycles are exempt from traffic tickets because they're not motorized vehicles, but then IANAL.

I got ticketed for an illegal right turn by a bicycle cop in Fort Worth. I was following my daughter's idiot boyfriend in the middle of some festival with thousands of cars bumper to bumper downtown. He turned right from the second lane, and the car to his right turned right, so I thought the two lanes were both right turn lanes. The light changed to red, so I had to stop. When the light changed to green, I turned right, the guy to my right slammed on his brakes, and the cop pulled me over. I had to be going at least two miles an hour.

No sympathy from me. There's actually a very easy way to stop getting tickets....

i've been driving for 8 years and have yet to get a ticket. i've been pulled over twice though. the first time was for failure to use my turn signal. i didnt see the street until the last second and when i turned i saw that the vehicle waiting to turn off that street was the constable . i pulled over before he could even turn around . he came up to the window and saw my uniform and said have a good night . turns out being a security officer has its perks.

the second was for no lp lights. got to show chl for the first time and was given a warning. i'm a firm believer in obeying traffic laws. there's a speed limit for a reason and if you leave a few minutes earlier, you dont have to break it. follow the law and you'll have more money to spend on guns and ammo.
