My first contact

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

You could probably argue that given the performance and quality of your vehicle, and the lack of other motorists that 64 mph right before the 60mph speed zone began is reasonable and prudent.

Radar or Lidar?
I considered the reasonable and prudent angle, but I'm not sure if its worth the drive all the way back over there as opposed to taking a safe driving class. I just realized how dumb that statement is, taking the class is time consuming. I really just have no idea how to go about this, what the chances of success are and what the downside is if I lose.

Radar (I think). My Valentine 1 will detect both, but IIRC, it was the radar beep. Is there fixed mount LIDAR - he was approaching me when my detector went off.

The other irritating thing is that I had already decided to sell this car, this was the last drive before I start pulling mods off of it.

Had to have been radar as I am not aware of any moving-platform lidar that is out there.

The jury may find you guilty and access a fine of $1. Happens here all the time.

Agreed with Keith that it was Radar.

I do not have the front plate on my truck because with the dealer mounted push bars it cannot be attached to it's proper place. I think that the statute says that if this is the case, that it cannot be properly mounted to the place it is designed to be mounted, then it is not required. I've had this truck for almost 6 years and never had one LEO question it.
Okay, I couldn't find any exception, but I did find the following:
Sec. 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the person operates on a public highway during a registration period a passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle, that have been:
I'm wondering if it doesn't apply to those who drive a "truck" and not a passenger car or commercial vehicle? Otherwise, I don't know what to do. The mounting bracket can't even be mounted.

Hmmm, two license plates at the front and back, are a total of four plates!

LOL. Now, I am no LEO. But when I read this I say to myself "Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Do you wish to plead guilty and pay the fine or do want to contest this? Sign here please sir."

Well, hopefully, some kind officer will take pity on me and not cite me for this if I'm ever stopped. It's really more of my inability to comply than ignorance.

I was told to drill holes in my car and make it work. :rules:

Knew a local LEO (Sgt., I think) who argued with me over the 2 plate rule. He was convinced Texas had changed the rule because of what the salesman told him when he bought a new car. I told him since the state gave me two when I registered the truck, 2 were going on the truck. He just mumbled something (flattering, i'm sure  ) and walked away.

I've been trying to figure out a design for a stealth front plate holder.

It would be spring loaded and slide under the car flat [_] when not deployed but could then be deployed [|<] when needed.

Then you could make it rotate to different plates, like 007!!

Never living in a state that required a front plate, how is it that the law says you have to have a front plate but people get away with not doing so? How come there are ways around it?

I don't care, when the time comes to become a "real" TX resident (tax paying  ) I'll slap one on the front in anyway possible.

Heck, I'm not even sure if my truck has a front mount already? :biggrinjester:

Interesting enough, there are no additional taxes you would have to pay if you became a Texas resident (there is no income tax). Other taxes you pay if you are a resident or not (i.e. property, sales, etc.)
