Plano Female Officer, Car accident.

This morning, I got in a car accident. In Plano, TX, a gentleman wanted to take a left on intersession and failed to yield he did not even stop at all in the left lane. It was split sec reaction and all what I did is I steered to right to avoid a head-on collision. I succeed but my Acura RL was broadside hit by the gentleman's Acura TL. My son Ryan and I are Okay, my 3-yr old son was silent (shocked) a bit and then was as usual acted and behaved normal.

My RL had damages on both left doors and left rear wheel. I could not open the doors and the cop showed up in 10 mins. The encounter with this Female Officer from Plano, TX was great.

Just as the my RL came to stop, my RL did not even clear the intersection, I could not open the driver's door. I shut off the car and proceeded to remove my son Ryan from the right side rear door. The gentleman who was driving the car stepped out of his car and the insurance paper is in his hand. He did not say much and he told me that he already called 911 for an officer assistance. 10 mins later, a Female officer showed up on the scene. A witness came forward and gave a statement and her contact info. The officer asked me to remove my car from the intersection and park it in the parking lot of the strip mall on the corner of the intersection. In the parking lot, she approached me and asked me for ID and Ins Info. I handed over both my DL and CHL. Before, I even had chance to say if I armed or not, she goes like: "Ah, is it there in your fannypack (A large tommys' pack)?" I nodded that yeah, it is there. She said: " I have no need for your CHL" and went ahead to talk to other driver and started writing the incident report. 20 mins later, she came back talking to other driver (most probably he was citied) and came back giving me his Ins Info.

The gentleman who was quiet most of the time, approached me to apologize and shake hand. He said," I didn't mean it" I replied " Next time, just be careful". I was given back my ID and Ins Papers and on straight went on my way to the Acura Dealer just 2 miles down the road.

Car is now at the collision center waiting for the adjuster estimate and authorization for body work repairs. Unfortunately, I could not get a rental till an adjuster inspect the damages, talk to the second driver and determine liability.

Now, I need a rental!
Overall, the Plano was officer conducted herself in an exceptional manner. Kudos to her!

I am glad you and your son are ok.
Sounds like the car absorbed the brunt of the impact.

And it's good to know that the CHL was never an issue.

Gosh Beiruty, I'm glad you and your son are ok. That's terrible. I know how frightening that can be. You are most fortunate, thank God.

OP / Please forgive my quick threadjack: I use a fanny-type pack with every bicycle outing. I describe it that way as it isn't your standard issue in appearance. It's more rectangular and could pass for a binocular case or something housing a medical device.

It was my primary style of carry for many years.

Now, for everyday use, I've abandoned this mode of carry for something with significantly faster access under a cover garment.

Glad you're uninjured! You should be able to get a rental pretty quick, you called his insurance, correct? If they don't play ball, you can always call your insurance and have them handle them.

My wife also had an accident on the 24th. Same scenario, she had a green light and lady turned left in front of her. I filled report with the at fault drivers insurance. Next morning I get a phone call and a run around. Call my insurance co. 2 hrs later my wife had a rental. Took over 1 wk for the other company to accept responsibility. They are still trying to jerk me around. I will probably have to call the state insurance commissioner to get them to act right. Don't forget to file a claim with the other drivers co for diminished value after your car is fixed. google it and you will find a lot of information on it.
