First LEO contact with DPS

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

First LEO contact with DPS

#1

Post by ewilson »

I drive a big truck and got pulled over by DPS the other day. I waited in my truck hands on the wheel, the officer came up on my passenger side, knocked on the door and then opened it up. He asked me for my license and insurance and I handed him my chl and my dl with my insurance. He looked at my chl, placed it on the seat and said I could put it back in my wallet. He asked me to step back to his car while he wrote me a warning for a defective mudflap. He was very polite and professional and never asked about my weapon. :thumbs2:

You musta forgotten to go tearin' through traffic with some guy stuck riding on the back of your tractor.

Big truck with mudflaps ... are you driving on a CDL? Just curious as that might change the equation some, but regardless it sounds like a good first contact to me. :thumbs2:

Its nice to see that some officers still treat law abiding citizens with respect.. I think if I was an officer I would appreciate the CHL -- its nearly instant verification that the person you are dealing with is clean and has an honorable and law abiding past..

Yep, class A cdl. We call our 18 wheelers "big trucks" and most everything else on the road we call 4 wheelers. ;-)

The officer opened the door or you did? If the officer, did he do it w/o your permission and is that SOP? Just curious.

Watch out for them Schneider Droppings, don't want that stuck in a tire!
