Jefferson County Deputy's Viehicle and M16 stolen.

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

You'd think a cop wouldn't leave the key in his vehicle. The thought of some of Port Arthur's not so finest having an M-16 scares the daylights out of me.

In the couple times that Ive dealt with Hays County Deputies, I've noticed them leaving their cars on (and running) more often than not, even when the deputy spent 45 minutes+ talking to me and others. I assumed he locked the doors, but I don't know for sure. :confused5

I don't know the whole story here, but I know a lot of officers leave the car running with the doors locked. When you have radios, computers, recorders, lights, etc. running you can not leave your car off for long before the battery drains down.

and probably an AR, not and m16, but hey, they're both bad in the wrong hands.

the key being wrong hands, of course.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
