Harris County SO
This is a little old but I was stopped on the Hardy Toll Road going a little faster than I should. HCSO was sitting on the shoulder at an on ramp and pulled me over. I handed over my DL, CHL and for the life of me I could not find my insurance. The Deputy took me on my word for having insurance, told me I should slow down and asked if I was still in the military (Lackland AFB address on IDs). No mention or care of the CHL or weapon. Didnt even leave my window before he told me to have a good day. Shortest Traffic Stop in history for me. All in all a good contact, concidering how he could have easily (and rightly) made my life not so great at that moment.

That was a courteous officer. Must have been having a good day. Most officers I know would give you a ticket for no insurance, and what you could do is have it dismissed by proving you were in fact insured at the time you were pulled over. Some I've had the misfortune to be pulled over by will warn you for the insurance and write a ticket for speeding, when they might have had mercy (<10 over has netted me a warning more often than not if they even bother) if you had been able to provide all the papers.AFCop wrote:This is a little old but I was stopped on the Hardy Toll Road going a little faster than I should. Since I am assuming that AFCop means Air Force Cop ?? or even if it doesn't -- make sure you bring your current insurance card with you if you come to San Antonio/Randolph/Lackland/Ft Sam, or wherever... San Antonio has an ordinance that allows the police to impound your vehicle if you do not have proof of current insurance. When they first implemented it, they impounded a LOT of vehicles, I am thinking it was in the hundreds, the first year it was in force.
