Bills Still Alive as of the evening of 5/23

#1

Post by KLB »

I got an email from the SREC reporting on legislative deadlines and certain bills. The following gun-related bills are said still to be a priority. But they don't say the ones in House Calendars have a realistic chance. The email seems to be a way to make us think they're on top of things.

SB 16 Nichols/Huffman
Relating to the removal of a fee for the issuance of an original, duplicate, modified, or renewed license to carry a handgun.
Sent to Governor, 5/15

Bills In House Calendars…
*HB 1911 White
Relating to granting authority to carry a firearm to an unlicensed person who otherwise meets certain requirements for a handgun license and to related criminal offenses; creating a criminal offense.
House Committee report sent to Calendars, 4/26
*Bill enacting priority in its entirety*
Bills In House Committees…

*HB 375 Stickland/Schafer
Relating to providing for the carrying of handguns without a license and to related offenses and penalties.
Left pending in Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee, 3/28
*Bill enacting priority in its entirety*

Can you check on or advise on SB 2065?
It has an amendment that contains portions of HB 421 and Hb 981, regarding volunteer security at churches.

Re: SB 2065

House passage as amended was reported back to the Senate today. 05/23

I emailed Senator Hancock expressing support for SB 2065 as amended by the House.

[edit] Tomorrow's calendar for SENATE BILLS RETURNED FROM HOUSE WITH AMENDMENTS was just updated with SB 2065 included.

[edit my edit] LOL That was today's calendar it made it onto.
May we never haver to draw but always be prepared.

How old was the email? HB 1911 and HB 375 have been dead for a couple of weeks, and SB 16 passed.

I'm beginning to think that no one knows what's going on. Not even them. So many bills are getting wrapped and other bills

It has passed with the amendment and is waiting on action by the governor

That's the thing. I got the email yesterday evening after 8:00. I think it was blowing smoke.

I also got a survey email yesterday from the state Republican party.

They asked to rank remaining legislative priorities for this session. Constitutional Carry was on the list. It's a Facebook survey, but I took it without being logged in to Facebook.
