The 12-year-old Flores Elementary School student charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old boxer John Duane VanMeter previously lived with the victim and his girlfriend due to a troubled childhood, according to VanMeter’s girlfriend Sammy Chapa.
“I know [the suspect] because he was my son’s good friend. I took him in for a while ’cause he was always in the streets, and felt sorry for him. He kept getting into trouble along with my son, so I didn’t allow him in my home anymore,” Chapa said, noting that, prior to the incident, the last time the suspect visited her home was roughly two months ago.
The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

This story pretty much sums up why everyone needs to have a firearm accessible to them at all times. If a professional boxer can't protect himself against a 12 year old kid, then there is little hope for ordinary people who choose to be unarmed.
The only silver lining I can see is that this guy likely saved his girlfriend from harm and/or death by his bravery in confronting the thug who shot him.
