Shortly before 5 a.m. in Columbus a suspect broke into a house across the street, was discovered by occupants and chased out of a 2nd story window. He crossed the street and broke through the front window of a home where a widow lived by herself. Her son had given her a gun a few days prior, and she fired several rounds. Intruder was taken to hospital and pronounced dead about 7 a.m.

I like that story, Jack Webb (aka Sgt Joe Friday) style. Just the facts.

I like stories with a happy ending. Good prevails and evil winds up on a slab.

Predominantly a poor, white neighborhood. Definite high crime rate. Not the worst neighborhood in Columbus, but probably 3rd in line. Local nickname is the "Hilltop" area.

Good son taking care of momma and arming her just in time. I wonder what kind of firearm it was and if she ever fired one before. She did just fine.
One less criminal taker on the planet.
