Man Stops Robbery with Taser, Charged with Felony

File this one under "No Good Deed Shall Go Unpunished".

Man Stops Robbery with His Taser, Is Charged with Felony Possession of a Weapon
Steele is being charged with possession of an electronic weapon, which is a felony, because he doesn't have a concealed carry permit for his Taser.
I am not a lawyer. This is NOT legal advice.!

He didn't use the taser. Crazy stuff.
Steele didn't actually use the taser, according to the batender. Still, he will face a felony weapons charge,

Wisconsin is New York West. That's another one on our no go zone.

My daughter who live in North Carolina was thinking of carrying a taser with her when traveling to Dallas by car. We looked at the state laws between Dallas and NC on carrying tasers. It is amazing how many states outlaw the carry of tasers. Wisconsin is far from the only one.

I wonder if the LEO's are chagrined or if they also find this charge ridiculous, but have to go along with their liberal bosses to keep their jobs...?

Frankly, all LEO's aught to simply resign (yeah, easy for me to say) when they encounter this sort of madness...

God bless Texas!!!

Even before the CHL statute was passed in 1995, if the shooting was righteous, UCW charges were almost never filed. When they were, you could be there were extenuating circumstances like it was "thug on thug" (COPS know what I really mean) crime and by indicting the survivor, we get a "twofer."

In my humble opinion, if a weapon in violation of the law is successfully used to stop a violent crime that is a greater offense, the violation should be "cancelled" out. In other words, a lesser wrong which stops a greater wrong makes a right.
CHL since 2/2011
Glock 26, S&W 442, Ruger SP101 .357 3",
S&W M&P 40, Remington 870 Express 12 ga 18"

Even us former LEO's know about that one.

I had a situation with a citizen carrying back in the late 70's. He had what I considered a valid reason. All I did was have him put it up, because the reason was changing to invalid. :evil2:
