That's because they have never been victimized by theft, and they believe that the garbage walking around trying to take what we work for, are justified because they are "victims" of society. They have no concept of right and wrong, they only see a death. While I agree the death could have been prevented, the prevention should have come from the 17 year old not becoming a thief. The Socialist left believe that if they want something you have, they are justified in taking it. Hopefully, someone else will change their mindset and not be the next one shot stealing something.bblhd672 wrote:The Star Telegraph said "killing in the defense of property can never be right" - did not say car/truck/van, they said "property." Is a car (or it's contents) worth a human life? Well I know it's not worth my life, or the lives of my loved ones, because I know the value of those lives. I would think that it's also not worth the life of a random person who I find in my driveway in the middle of the night.
But here's the thing. That random person believes their life is not worth more than my car, since they decided that is a potential trade off they are willing to make the moment they decided to steal my car. And who am I to think that I know the value of their life better then they do? If they really value their life that low, then I'm not going to waste time arguing with them about it.

I will never take a life over material possessions ( besides, I'm insured out the ying yang). Now threaten my family, all bets are off.

There is a firearm in my vehicle at all times. I don't know how I would feel if they stole it and killed someone with it, if at the time of the theft, I was there to stop it.Soccerdad1995 wrote:Here's how I think about it.bblhd672 wrote:Ft. I hope and pray that I never have to make that decision. I have been the victim of theft, I lost my grandfather's 16 gauge Ithaca pump shotgun and several other irreplaceable things, several years ago, and had no renters insurance. ( was in my 20's and could barely afford rent) Since then I have better security, and insurance, but I still know what everything cost. I detest a thief. I will give someone the shirt off my back if they are in need, but don't try to steal from me. I don't know if I could drop the hammer on someone trying to break into my vehicle, but I will confront them armed and ready. If they come into my home, I have no idea what their intentions are, and I won't waste a lot of time, in a discussion over it. JMHO

Plus, you don't know if they have it or not when you confront them. It would suck to get shot, it would suck more to get shot by your own gun.locke_n_load wrote:

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

My daughter's car was stolen right out of her yard. A 1 year old Nissan Altima. After her insurance paid off she was still out many thousands so the argument that insurance covers it is not valid. My daughter does not have the finances that she can afford that type of loss and therefore her loss was also my loss. Be realistic though, is there no monetary loss that you would kill to protect? How about your home, life savings, retirement fund, ability to pay for your child's cancer therapy, whatever scenario you want? When someone steals what is yours they may be depriving yours from some life saving necessity. This is where the Saudi's have better punishment for crimes. You know, pick pockets and caught you lose your hand. Do it twice you lose both. If one steals from another they may end up paying the maximum price for their crime- right or wrong.WTR wrote:I will never take a life over material possessions ( besides, I'm insured out the ying yang). I agree with this very much. In this case, it is reasonable to believe that the property being stolen will lead to loss of life, which personally justifies deadly force to prevent. I don't believe that my vehicle is worth anyone's life. However, there are many instances where a thief/burglar would be willing to take my (or someone else's) life to successfully complete the crime they are committing. It's a tough call, and one I can't say is black & white regarding property.locke_n_load wrote:There is a firearm in my vehicle at all times. It would really suck to get shot by a gun that I own because it would work, and it would be loaded with very effective ammo.jason812 wrote:Plus, you don't know if they have it or not when you confront them. Maybe I should go get a non-functioning Hi-point to keep in my car just in case someone wants to shoot me with my own gun.

They're ugly as HRC and have bad triggers but they generally go bang. Safer to keep an airsoft in there as a drop gun.Soccerdad1995 wrote:Maybe I should go get a non-functioning Hi-point to keep in my car just in case someone wants to shoot me with my own gun.

Theft is slavery. Another person has taken the results of your labor without consent or compensation. The thief has made you his slave, for the time it took for you to earn that property. Someone trying to enslave me, even temporarily, is worth killing over, imo.

Interesting thing about theft especially whenever it occurs on someone else's property. They tend to come back and keep doing it!

Even a rat is smart enough to press a lever again if it got food the last time it pressed the lever.TreyHouston wrote:Interesting thing about theft especially whenever it occurs on someone else's property. They tend to come back and keep doing it!
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
