I went into academy sports yesterday and, of course, visited the firearms section.

I noticed that on the shelves with the holsters that had two signs: Concealed and Open Carry.

Obviously they are planning ahead.

It made me smile.

3 days to Open Carry for me. My 18 year old son and I will cross the New Mexico border on Thursday at about 1300CDT. I'll carry openly until we again cross the Texas-New Mexico border as we return Aug 3.

We are heading to Tucson, AZ, to fly rockets in the dessert. http://naram57.org While in AZ, my son will also carry openly.

My 9mm will be IWB. His sub-compact .45 will be OWB. Not making any statements, just going about life and waiting for 1/1/16.

It got a little warm today as we grocery shopped and had lunch in Polson. I thought about shucking my new concealed carry vest and going au naturel with my compact 1911 exposed for all to see. Inasmuch as no one nowhere was wearing their piece out in the open, I decided that rather than draw any unwanted and unnecessary attention, I kept my vest on over my CC.
